The challenge
The Boat Safety Scheme is the UK's safety standard for boats on inland waterways. Boat owners, examiners and navigation authorities all rely on its website, and the information behind it lives in Salesforce.
Examiner data in Salesforce
Every examiner's details, qualifications and coverage area are held in Salesforce. The website had to show accurate, current information without anyone updating two systems.
Keeping data in sync
Changes in Salesforce needed to appear on the site quickly and reliably, without slowing pages down or exposing private data.
Connected communications
Enquiries and customer messages had to flow into Salesforce automatically, so the team has one complete record of every contact.

Every form and customer message is sent to Salesforce through a Zapier connector, creating or updating records automatically.
Secure by design
Only public examiner information is displayed, data is cached for speed, and the integration fails safely if Salesforce is unavailable.
Content by audience
Clear routes for boat owners, examiners and industry, with guidance pages the team manage in the Umbraco back office.
